PROGRAMMES CONDUCTED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS & STATISTICS IN 2024

20th March 2024

A one day workshop on Capacity Building and Data Dissemination on Agriculture Statistics was jointly organised by National Statistics Organiusation (NSO) FOD Thiruvananthapuram Region and Department of Economics & Statistics at Directoarte of Economics & Statistics, Thiruvananthapuram on 20 March 2024. Sri. P.C. Mohanan, Chairman, Kerala Statistical Commission inaugurate the workshop. Smt. Sunitha Bhaskar, DDG NSO and Sri. Sreekumar, Director DES, Senior officials from NSO and DES including district level EARAS officials were present the event.

 

7th March 2024

As part of Internatiional Women's day on 8 March 2024, the Directoarte of Economics & Statistics organised an one day celbration at Directoarte Conference Hall on 7-03-2024. Smt. A.G. Oleena, Director, Kerala Literacy Mission inaugurated the event. Director, senior officers and all other staff in the directorate were present during the function.

 

27th February 2024

Release of Compendium of Project Reports of the second batch of #AIFORALL Capacity Building in Artificial Intelligence & Data Analytics held at Digital University Kerala from 11th October to 21st December 2023 at IIITM-K, Tehchnopark. Dr. R. Bindhu Hon'ble Minister for Higher Ediucation handed over a copy of the report to Sri. Sreekumar B, Director of DES. The programme was organised by DUK. The main function  was inauguration of the rennovated new buiulding of DUK at Technopark (IIITM-K) by Hon'ble CM Sri. Pinarayi Vijayan.

During the event, Sri. P. Rajeev, Hon'ble Minister for Industries & Coir handed over the final FRS of DUK project for EARAS to Sri. Sreekumar B, Director of DES. DUK officials and DES senior offcials also present.

 

5th to 8th February 2024

Annual Conference of Agricutlture Statistics (EARAS), EARAS mannual revision, Price Manual revision, and Cost of Cultivation Methodology revision were held at Directorate Conference hall from 5th to 8th February 2024. Kerala Statistical Commission Chairman Sri. P.C. Mohanan and Smt. Sunitha Bhaskar, DDG NSO Poonkulam are the Chief Guest during the inaugural ceremony held on first day.

During the last day of the conference Smt. Sarada Muraleedharan IAS ACS Planning & Economic Affairs was the Chief Guest and she has inaugurated the formal launch of the web portal for Consumer Price Index for Rural/ Urban & Combined.

 

27th January 2024

A discussion held on 27th January 2024 at Directorate Training Hall, presided by the Director Sri. Sreekumar B, to examine the feasibility of integrating Cost of Cultivation Survey with EARAS scheme and for the periodic changes in methodology and data collecting.  Agriculture Prices Board Chairman, Sri. Rajasekaran. P, Planning Board Agriculture Division Representative, Dr. Reji D. Nair, Coconut Development Board Representative, Smt. Renu .P. Viswam, Agriculture Department Representative, Sri. Manoj. S, University of Kerala Representative Smt. Indulekha, Head of Department of Statistics, University of Kerala (Rtd) Sri. Somasekaran Pillai, 2023 Haritha Mitra Award winner (2023) for the best vegetable farmer of Kerala Government Sri. Sujith S.V. were also participated.

16th and 17th January 2024

           A delegation of 10 officials form Department of Economics & Statistics in Nagaland State arrived in Thiruvananthapuram for an exposure visit to study the State Statistical System in Kerala. Sri. Mohammed Ali Shuhaib IAS, Secretary of Economics & Statistics and IT of Nagaland led the delegation. The DES team was headed by Sri. Nidhilhou Angami, Director of DES Nagaland and other 9 officers in tthe cadre of Deputy Director, Economics & Statistics Officer, Inspector of Statistics and Field Investigator. The study team visited the dircetorate and made interatctions with the senior officers in the Directorate. The delegation also visited Kerala State Planning Board and made discussion with the Vice Chancellor Dr. V.K. Ramachandran on 16-01-2024. The team further visited IKM and SASA for familiarising the effective implementation of e-governance applications in decentralised govrenance and on capacity buidling initiatives of SASA.
