Major Activities of KSSC March 2024
- State Income Workshop on 18th March 2024
The Kerala State Statistical Commission (KSSC), in collaboration with the State Planning Board, conducted a workshop to present the key findings of the three expert groups on state income on 18th March 2024 at Mascot Hotel, Thiruvananthapuram. The expert groups focusing on primary, secondary, and tertiary sectors set up by the Government to examine the compilation of State Domestic Product and make recommendations to on data and methodology. The workshop was chaired by Prof. V. K. Ramachandran, Vice Chairman, State Planning Board. Additional Chief Secretary Smt Sarada Muraleedharan. IAS welcomed the participants. The findings of the groups were presented by Planning Board Members Dr Ramkumar and Mr V Namasivayam and P C Mohanan Chairman, KSSC. The meeting had participation from the National Accounts Division of CSO New Delhi, Members and Officials of the State Planning Board and senior officers of the Department of Economics and Statistics (DES). The report after finalisation would be submitted to the Government. It is expected to strengthen the estimation of the state GSDP.
- Commission Meeting on 19th March 2024
A meeting of the Commission was convened on 19th March 2024 to review the Commission's activities since the last meeting and discuss various draft proposals and reports. During the meeting, the General Education Department made a presentation on the activities of the Statistics Wing in their department, and the Labour and Housing Division of DES made a presentation on Building Statistics.
The Joint Director of the Statistics Wing in the Directorate of General Education Department made the presentation on the department's activities, staff structure, and data they manage. The Assistant Director of the Labour and Housing Division at DES made the presentation on Building Statistics.
- Meeting with Statistical Wing in Land Use Board
On 21st March 2024, a meeting with the Statistical Wing in the Land Use Board was convened at the KSSC office, presided over by the Chairman. The Deputy Director of the Statistics Wing in the Land Use Board Department made a presentation on the role and responsibilities of the Statistics Wing, the collection methods, available data, and the key hurdles to improving the statistical system. The meeting discussed the special data and the Land Utilisation Report available in the Land Use Board Department.
- Meeting with Statistics Wing in Collegiate Education Department
A presentation on the statistical activities in the Directorate of Collegiate Education was made on 22nd march 2024 by the Research Assistant, along with her team. The presentation covered the organizational aspects and data management practices in the Directorate of Collegiate Education.
- Chairman KSSC attended the 64thAnnual Conference of Indian Society for Labour Economics (ISLE) at Hyderabad on 30thand 31st March 2024 and participated in a panel discussion on women’s work participation.
