PREFACE	 	
 	Price  collection  is  one  of  the  major  item	s of  work  undertaken  by  the  Department  of 	
Economics and Statistics. The importance and usefulness of the information pertaining to the 
price movements  has much significance. This  Department  has been  collecting different  types 
of  prices  viz.  Farm  price,  Mark	et  price,  etc.  (both  Wholesale  and  Retail).  These  prices  are 	
being  widely  used  for  various  purposes  such  as 	for  the  p	reparation  of  Indices,  to	 provide 	
compensation  to  Farmer	s  and  for  tendering  consumable  articles  for  Govt.  Institutions. 	
Among  the  Retail  pr	ices,  the 	statement  of 	daily  prices  of  fifty  essential  commodities  being 	
collected  on  daily  basis  fr	om  District  Headquarters  assume	 significance,  because 	it 	is 	being	 	
forwarded  daily  to  the  office  of 	the  Chief	 Minister  and  Minist	er  of  Food  and  Civil  Supplie	s, 	
Minister  for  Agriculture,	 Chief	 Secretary,	 Food  and 	Civil  Supplies  Secretary	, Planning 	
secretary,	 Department of Civil supplies	, Res	erve Bank of India	, Consumer 	fed	 etc	. In addition 	
to the daily prices, weekly prices are also being collected every Friday	. 	
 	From  January  2004  onwards  a  publication  titled  “PRICE  BULLETIN”  is  being 	
prepared  and  published  mo	nthly  incorporating  the  Retail  P	rices  of  main  essential 	
commodities  under  8  major  groups.  Group  wise  analysis  has  been  made  with  reference  to 
current  month,  previous  month  and 	the 	corresponding  month  of  the  previous  year  with 	
suitable  pictorial  representation	s. These  prices  are  being  col	lected  from  the  market	 by  the 	
Price collectors and supervised by district level Officers	 	
This publication is being prepared and published by Prices Division.	 I appreciate the

INTRODUCTION	 	
 
                	This  bulletin  reflects  the  average  retail  prices 	of	 essential	 	
commodities  for  the  month  of 	November	 2022	.   	A  mixed	 trend	 has 	
been  seen  in  the  retail  prices  under  report  when  compared  with  that 
of 	the 	last 	month	s 	as 	well  as 	the  corresponding  month  of  previous 	
year. Statement	 showing the 	monthly 	average retail	 prices 	of essential 	
commodities  for  the  month  of 	November	 of	 the  previous  year 	2021	, 	
previous  month 	October	 2022	 and 	current  month  of 	November	 2022	 	
alo	ng  with 	 the  percentage 	of 	variation  over 	the 	previous  month  and 	
the 	corresponding	 month  of 	the 	previous  year  are 	included  in  this 	
report	.   	GroupWise	 analysis  has  been  made  with  reference  to 	the 	
current  month, 	the 	previous  month  and 	the 	corresponding  month 	of 	
the 	previous year with suitable pictorial representation.

1. RICE	 	
Comparison of State Average Retail P	rices of different varieties of Rice	 	
 	During  the  month 	mixed  trend	 was  observed	 in  the  state  average  retail  price  of  Rice  varieties  when 	
compared  with  the  prices  of  the  previous  month	 while  an  increasing  trend  was  seen 	when  compared  with  the	 	
corresponding month of the previous year.	 	
The State averag	e retail prices of Red Matta and 	Wh	ite Andhra Vella increased by 	4.73 %, 0.43 % 	while	 the 	
prices of Red Chamba decreased by 3.14 	%.	 	
When  compared  with  the  prices  of  the  corresponding  month  of  the  previous  year,  the  state  average  retail 	
prices  of  Red  Matta	, Red  Chamba	 and  White  Andhra  Vella 	increased  by 	36.62	 %,  11.10	 % and 	28.29	 % 	
respectively	. 	
The  following  table  and  diagram  represent  the  prices  and  percentage  of  variation  over  month  and  year  of 	
Rice.

2. PULSES	 	
Comparison of State Average Retail P	rices of Pulses.	 	
During  the  month  a 	mixed  trend	 was  observed  in  the  state  average  retail  price  of  Pulses  when  compared 	
with the prices	 of the previous month, while an increasing trend	 was observed when compared with the prices	 of   	
the corresponding month of the previous year.	 	
       	When compared with the prices of previous month, 	the prices of Red gram and Dhal (Tur) increased by 	
2.63	 % and 2.83	 % respectively while all other items i	n this group noticed only a marginal variations.	 	
   When  compared  with  the  prices  of  the  corresponding  month  of  the  previous  year  the  state  average  retail 	
price of pulses showed a	n increasing	 trend	 except the prices of Peas dhal	. Notable increase was seen 	in the price 	
of 	Dhal  (Tur	) (13.78	 %),	 Red  gram  (	7.67	 %)	, Black  gram  Split  without  husk  (7.01%),	 while 	the  price	s of 	Peas 	
dhal decreased by 5.12 %.	 	
   The  following table  and diagram represent the  prices and percentage  of variation over month and  year of 	
pulses.

3. OTHER FOOD ITEMS	 	
Comparison of State A	verage Retail 	Prices of Other Food I	tems.	 	
During  the  month 	an  increasing	 trend  was  observed  in  the  state  average  retail  price  of 	Other  Food  I	tems 	
when compared with the prices of the previous month	 as well as	 the corresponding month of the previous year	.  	
The  State  average  retail  price  of  all  items 	in  this  group	 showed	 an  incr	easing  trend  except  the  prices  of 	
Sugar	 (OM).Notable increase was seen in the price of Egg (Hen) While lagoon	 (13.79	 %) All other items in this 	
group showed only a marginal increase 	when compared with the prices of the previous month. 	 	
When  compared  with  t	he  prices  of  the  corresponding  month  of  the  previous  year  the  state  average  retail 	
price  of  Other  Food  Items  showed 	an  increasing  trend  except  the  prices  of  Sugar  (OM). 	Notable  increase  was 	
seen in the price of	 Egg (Hen) While Lagoon (13.75	 %), 	and	 Coffee	 powder (10.61 %).

4. OIL AND OILSEEDS	 	
Comparison of State Average Retail Prices of Oil and O	ilseeds.	 	
During  the  month 	slight	 increase	 was 	seen	 in  the  state  aver	age  retail  price  of  Oil  and  Oil	seeds  when 	
compared  with the  prices of the  previous  month 	while a  mixed trend  was observed in 	the corresponding  month 	
of the previous year. 	 	
       	When  compared  with  the  prices  of  previous  month,	 a  slight  increase  is  seen  in  the  prices  of	 all  items 	
except	 the price of G	roundnut Oil. All other items in this group 	showed	 only 	a marginal increase.	 	
      	When compared with the prices of the corresponding month of the previous year the state average retail 	
price of Oil and Oilseeds showed 	the mixed	 trend. Notab	le increase was seen in the price of	 Groundnut oil (8.01 	
%) while n	otable decrease was seen in the price of Coconut 	Oil (17.60	 %) and C	oconut without husk 	(16.60 	%).

5.  SPICES AND CONDIMENTS	 	
Comparison of State Average Retail P	rices of Spices and Condiments:	 	
 	      	During  the  month 	mixed	 trend  was  observed  in  the	 State  average  retail  price  of  S	pices  and 	
Condiments  when  compared  with  the  price  of  the  previous  month  as  well  as  the  corresponding  month  of  the 
previous year. 	 	
      	The state average retail price of Spices and Condiments showed 	a mixed	 trend when compared with the 	
price of the previou	s month. Notable 	increase	 was seen in the price of 	Onion Small (12.94%)	, Garllic	 (9.72	 %)	, 	
and Chillies Dry	 (5.61	 %) 	while 	all the 	remaining 	items	 showed marginal variations	. 	
When  compared  with  the  prices  of  the  corresponding  month  of  the  previous  year,  the  state  average  retail 	
price  of  Spices  and  Condiments  showed 	an  increasing  trend  except  the  prices  of  Garlic. 	Notable  increase  was 	
seen  in  the  price  of 	Chillies  dry  (110.26 	%)	, Onion  small  (73.21	 %), 	Coriander  (	49.09	 %)	, Cuminseed	  (26.14 	
%) Methy (11.83%) and Mustard (10.54 %) while 	notable decrease was seen in the price of Garlic (	24.79	 %).

6. TUBERS	 	
Comparison of State Average Retail P	rices of Tubers	 	
During the  month 	decreasing	 trend was observed in the state average retail price of Tubers when compared 	
with  the  prices  of  the  previous  month 	while  an 	increasing  trend  was  noticed  in	 the  corresponding  month  of  the 	
previous year. 	 	
      	When compared with the  price of the previous month, the state average retail price of Tubers showed a 	
decreasing 	trend	. Notable dec	rease  was seen in the price of T	apioca (	Raw) (5.80	 %)  All the remaining Items in 	
this group showed only a marginal decrease. 	 	
      	Increasing  trend  was  observed  in  the  retail  prices  of  Tubers  when  compared  with  the  prices  of  the 	
corresponding  month of the  previous  year.	 During this period the  p	rices of all items	 except the  price  of Potato,	 	
increased  significantly	.  Notable  increase  was  seen  in  the  prices 	of  Tapioca  Raw  (97	 %),  Colocasia  (50.51  %)	 	
and Elephant Yam (27.06	 %).	 	
      	The  following  table  and  diagram  represent  the  prices  and  percentage  of  variation  over  month  and  year	 	
of Tubers.

7. VEGETABLES	 	
Comparison of State Average Retail P	rices of Vegetables.	 	
During  the  month	 a  decreasing	 trend  was  observed  in  the	 State  average  retail  price  of  V	egetables  when 	
compared  with the  prices of the 	previous  month	 while a  mixed trend  was observed in 	the corresponding  month 	
of the previous year. 	 	
      	When  compared  with  the  prices  of  the  previous  month,  the  state  average  retail  prices 	of 	Vegetables 	
showed 	decreasing 	trend	 exc	ept the price of Onion (Bi	g), that increased by	 20.19	 %. 	Notable 	decrease	 was seen 	
in the price of	 Tomato (42.34	 %), Cucumber (17.64	 %), Banana green (16.62	 %) and	 Pumpkin (11.35 %).	 	
 When  compared  with  the  prices  of  the  corresponding  month  of  the  previous  year,  the	 state  average  r	etail 	
price  of  V	egetables  showed 	mixed  trend 	Notable  increase  was  seen  in  the  price  of	 Plantain  green  (28.21  %),	 	
Banana  green (17.26	 %),	 Cabbage	 (16.94 %).	  While	 notable  decrease  was seen in the  prices of	 Tomato (63.74	 	
%),	 Lady’s  finger  (38.44	 %), 	Cucumber  (26.30	 %)	, Snake  gourd	 (19.63	 %),	 Brinjal	 (19.58	 %)	,  Onion	 (Big)	 	
(10.22	 %).

8. MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS	 	
Comparison of state Average Retail prices of miscellaneous 	items	 	
      	During the month 	only a marginal	 variations	 was observed in the state average retail price of 	this group	 	
when  compared  with  the  prices  of  the  previous  month 	while  an  increasing  trend  was  observed  in	 the 	
corresponding month of the previous year.	  	
  When compared with the prices of the previous month, 	only a marginal variations was noticed	 	
  When  compared  with  the  prices  of  the  corre	sponding  month  of  the  previous  y	ear  the  state  average  retail 	
price  of 	this  group 	showed 	an  increasing  trend. 	Notable	 increase  was  seen  in  the  price  of 	Toilet  Soap 	–Lux 	
(27.26	 %), 	Washing  soda  (20.83	 %),	 Tooth	 paste	 –Colgate  (15.55	 %),  Paper	 (9.92	 %),	 Razor  blade  (8.55	 %)	  	
and 	Torch Battery (Eveready) (	7.26 	%)	.
