Price Bulletin

This electronic bulletin analyses the Retail Prices of Essential Commodities which are being collected daily from all district headquarters.

Introduction

Economics and Statistics department is the Nodal Agency for the collection, compilation and dissemination of price statistics in the state. Department is collecting various types of prices from various centers in the district. Price data prepared by the department is used by various central and state government departments and agencies such as Civil Supplies Department, Forest Department, Reserve Bank of India, Spices Board, Supply co, KSEB etc.

Department is collecting Retail prices of 50 essential commodities and 28 additional items from each district headquarters and consolidate at directorate. Prices of fruits and vegetables and 20 other items are also collected weekly from district headquarters. Analysis of prices thus collected are being done at directorate and daily and weekly reports are sent to the offices of Chief Minister, Minister of Food and Civil Supplies, Minister for Agriculture, Chief Secretary, Food and civil Supplies Secretary, Planning secretary etc.

This bulletin is being published daily incorporating the Retail prices of main essential commodities under 7 major groups. Group wise analysis has been made with reference to current date, previous date, the date corresponding to the previous month and the date corresponding to the previous year with suitable pictorial representations. These prices are being collected from the market by the price collectors and supervised by district level Officers.

This bulletin reflects the average retail prices of essential commodities for the latest available dates (working days).

How to use the charts and analyse the data

The date showing in the chart is the date in which the latest price is available. 'Price' means current date, 'Prev Day' means previous date in which price is available [if it is a holiday, then day before that day], 'Prev month' means the date corresponding to the previous month and 'Prev year' means the date corresponding to the previous year. On hovering over the chart, the colour of the letter will be corresponding to the colour of the bar. Usually the highest price will be shown first on each series.

The comoodity items in each chart and plot values can be filtered according to the user's need. The chart can be further expanded to full view after clicking on 'Chart Detail View' icon at the bottom right. The data table from which the chart is built can be open by clicking on 'View Data' icon at the bottom third right. The chart can be download as image by clicking on 'Download' icon at bottom second right. The 'Chart Detail View' will be opened in new browser Tab and in thi sview, the 'tag' given at the bottom left will be clickable and on clicking this tag, the similar charts tagged with such tag will be opened.

This chart will be updated at 6.30 PM daily. A table having State level average prices of all commodities is given at the end of this report for item wise price analysis. For district wise details of prices, the enquiry tables available in this dashboard may be referred.

Analysis of Retail prices of Rice

The State Average Retail Price of rice varieties such as Red- Chamba and Red-Matta and Andra Vella are compared with the prices of the previous day, previous month and previous year.
